Pärt Tarvas (1967)

studied at the Estonian Academy of Theatre and Music in Tallinn with Professor Peeter Paemurru. He has participated in Master Classes at the Royal London School of Music and furthered his studies under the direction of Frans Helmerson, Danii Safran, Manuel Fisher-Dieskau and Natalia Gutman. Since 1992 he has been a member of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ENSO) and since 1995 has held the position of Cello Concertmaster. Pärt Tarvas has made solo appearances under the direction of conductors such as Alexandr Dmitrijev, Nikolai Aleksejev, Andrei Tsistjakov, Gregory Rose and Mika Eichenholz. He has performed with the famous Borodin Quartet of Moscow, the jazz quartet “Night Musicians” and numerous other projects with pianists Mati Mikalai and Risto Laur.

Levi-Danel Mägila (1978)

began studying cello with Teet Järvi at the Tallinn High School of Music (1985) and he continued studies with Lembi Mets at the Tallinn Georg Ots Music School. From 1999 - 2002 he studied with Prof. Hillel Zori at the Tel-Aviv Music Academy in Israel. At present he studies with Prof. Peeter Paemurru at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Masters degree).

In 1997 and 1999 he won the First Prize at the Estonian Young String Players Competition. In 2003 Mägila won the scholarship of Holland Music Sessions. He has participated in master classes of Bernard Greenhouse, Uzi Wiesel, Yosif Feigelsohn, Stefan Popov, Johannes Goritzki, Dmitri Fershtman, Marko Ülönen and others. He has given concerts with various ensembles in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Chech Republic, Russia, Germany, Israel, Romania, Nedherlands, Lithuania. Mägila plays in Tallinn String Quartet and modern music ensemble U:. Since 2002 he has been the assistant principal cello of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

Margus Uus (1982)

began cello studies at the Tallinn Music School with Teet Järvi and Laine Leichter and continued his higher education with Henry-David Varema. Further studies have taken place at the Sibelius Academy with Hannu Kiiski. At present Margus is a member of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and also works as a freelance chamber musician.

Tõnu Jõesaar

studied the cello in Tallinn Music High School(Leichter) and in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre(Velmet). He has also participated in various chamber music classes in Sweden and The Netherlands. Tõnu Jõesaar has been the principal cellist of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, as well as been a member of string quartets Nobel Four and Tallinn String Quartet. Other ensembles include Tallinn Baroque, Rondellus and Baltic Baroque. Tõnu Jõesaar is also an active viola da gamba and continuo-player. He often collaborates with Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, Opus X(Finland), Latvian National Opera(Handel's Alcina) and Estonian National Opera(Handel's Julius Caesar). Tõnu Jõesaar is a professor of viola da gamba in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and teaches cello and viola da gamba in Old Town Educational College. This current season he is the principal cellist of the chamber orchestra Klaaspärlimäng Sinfonietta and can be heard in such ensembles as Corelli Consort, Väike rinG and the cello quartet C-Jam.
